Breathe...I'm back!

Breathe 10/26/2010

Process. We needn't worry when we don't achieve everything we want out of a role initially.
Provided we don't give up, there is room for such growth.

I would like to discuss Jason and Hilary. In the initial auditions both actors were struggling to find their identity within these roles. I thought the class in general was really great during call backs but the leap both of these actors took from initial read to call back really showed the payoff of doing the work and not giving up.

Jason could easily have booked Elliot during his callback. It was electric and unpredicatable. When we continued to structure the moment before and really place him in the interrogation room we witnessed an actor transforming into the character when we looked at the monitor.

Hilary genuinely suprised me. In her initial read for Morning I was very unclear about who she was. Hilary came back prepared. She had done her homework and took huge risks. Not every moment was flawless, however the audition as a whole was an excellent take on this upcoming celebrity. Not a role that would seem to come easily to Hilary, but she aced it.

Good work everyone. Class was...dare I say it FUN!
