Energy and Intention...

Breathe...

Actors have very little control in the medium of film and tv. It is a directors medium. The editor can shape an entire performance and we all know well the reality of casting. When we work it is important for us to take very seriously the things that we do have the power to take on.

I feel as a general note to class I would say we need to focus on our energy. For the next couple of months I would like everyone to make sure they come to the work with their prep fully in tact. It is safe to say that treating your auditions (and your process) for that matter in a casual manner will not result in booking a lead.

Somehow, the energy and the intention of how we go after things when we act filters it's way into our auditions and the manner in which we pursue our goals.

Auditioning is very demanding. Let's allow ourselves to work out at that level.

That said, I would very much like to discuss Chris Yen. I thought her prepartation for these incredibly demanding sides allowed her to really fly in her performance. Talk about really living it out. When an actor opens up that intensely to the work and has a handle on the circumstances and the technical demands of the physicality required it is simple to shape that performance as a director. That is when and how you get hired. Good job!

I don't want to let this opportunity pass without saying their were many good things going on in class last week. I welcome you all to share your perspective. I will say we can focus on lifting the energy level up a bit to become the actors we truly want to be.
